WORLD’S LARGEST MINT JULEP GLASS AT CHURCHILL DOWNS

TASK

Design and Build an exact replica of the official Kentucky Derby Mint Julep glass.

SCOPE OF WORK

Weber Group provided design, build and specialty fabrication services for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby to create the World’s Largest Mint Julep Glass, the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.  An exact replica of the Official Kentucky Derby Mint Julep Glass, the 6 ft. tall fully functioning glass holds 206 gallons of Mint Julep and is capable of serving over 12,000 Mint Juleps to guests.  The iconic piece of glassware is made of food-grade acrylic.  A giant stir stick conceals a battery operated pumping system to keep drinks fresh and even has a tap for serving.  An over sized sprig of mint garnishes the creation.

Architectural Pattern and Brand Book, Decatur, IL

TASK

Design brand guidelines and an architectural pattern book for the Decatur, IL Park District for the creation of the new Lakeshore Landing mixed use development.

SCOPE OF WORK

Weber Group provided design and branding services to the Decatur Park District for the creation of a new Brand Standards and Parkscape Sourcebook.  The comprehensive manual provides an overview of architectural standards, colors, wayfinding, public art, furnishing, promenade, and streetscape standards for the District as it creates a new 2,000 acre development, Lakeshore Landing along Lake Decatur. The project includes a family entertainment zone, a dining and nightlife zone, a marina zone, and a multi-family housing zone, each with a distinct presence that fits the overarching brand of the development. The first attractions within Lakeshore Landing have opened to rave reviews and include a marina and promenade, a dog park, and a resort style 36-hole mini golf course, ice cream parlor, coffee shop, and sit down restaurant.

Bardstown, KY

TASK

Create a custom serve bar for 1792 Ridgemont Reserve Bourbon for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival.

SCOPE OF WORK

Weber Group created a custom bar for the 1792 brand of Ridgemont Reserve Bourbon for the Sazerac Company. Known as the “Toast of Kentucky” each bottle of 1792 is handmade and bears the name of the year Kentucky became a Commonwealth, the 15th state in the Union.  As the Official Toasting Bourbon of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, this rye recipe Bourbon Whiskey desired a unique bar and servery to showcase its super-premium product.  Featuring hand-rolled oversized aluminum scrolls of parchment displaying the secret recipe, a giant 8-foot bottle of 1792, and hand-carved grains of rye, corn, and malted barley, the bar greets visitors in high Kentucky fashion.

Weber Group provided design, build and specialty fabrication services for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby to create the World’s Largest Mint Julep Glass, the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.  An exact replica of the Official Kentucky Derby Mint Julep Glass, the 6 ft. tall fully functioning glass holds 206 gallons of Mint Julep and is capable of serving over 12,000 Mint Juleps to guests.  The iconic piece of glassware is made of food-grade acrylic.  A giant stir stick conceals a battery operated pumping system to keep drinks fresh and even has a tap for serving.  An oversized sprig of mint garnishes the creation.  Refaced each year with the current artwork for the Official Mint Julep Glass, the wrap also proudly displays all the winners of each Kentucky Derby, beginning with Aristides in 1875 and continuing to the present day.  The original Mint Julep Glass holds 12 oz. of Mint Julep and a new design has been unveiled each year since 1938.

Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, Louisville, KY

TASK

To build the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience exhibits.

SCOPE OF WORK

Weber Group, Inc. built many of the exhibits on the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience tour, in conjuction with Solid Light, Inc. The new Bourbon Experience Center highlights the 200 year history of the product in Kentucky and is an anchor for Main Street.  The four stories of immersive exhibits and tasting rooms provide guests with hours of enjoyment.

To create an over-sized bourbon fountain for the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.

SCOPE OF WORK

Weber Group performed the complete fabrication and design of the fountain including the prototype/model development for the Fountain pour, splash and glass panels. The bourbon fountain is 4-stories tall, and is the portal for the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.

Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort

Saginaw, Michigan

Task

Provide design and build services for the Soaring Eagle Inn & Resort, which offers interactive environments to its visitors.

Scope of Work

Weber Group, Inc. provided design and build services for the Soaring Eagle Inn & Resort in Saginaw, Michigan. WGI created interactive environments including an eagle’s nest, with adult and baby eagles articulated with movement and sound, faux rockwork, foliage, an interactive storyteller and a mural of Michigan flora and fauna. Column wraps of Native American patterns in tile and other materials adorn the building columns. Large faux wooden brackets are attached to the cornices of the building. An immersive large wooden log adorns the back bar of the main restaurant.

Maker’s Mark

Task

Create 3-D representations of the famous Maker’s Mark brand.

Scope of Work

The Weber Group works with Maker’s Mark to create larger than life and three-dimensional representations of the brand. WGI created an arctic fox and bear climbing a Maker’s Mark bottle for the Alaskan market and a football tee for the Dallas Cowboy’s stadium.  The giant, 15-foot tall “Liberty Bell” bottle is even cracked and leaking Makers! The Mark of Great Art Gold Bottle is a great foil to the recreation of David (inspired by Michelangelo) by Serkan Ozkaya exhibited on the same street. If you can imagine it, the Weber Group can create it.
